This was my third annual kite festival here in Austin, TX and I hope the start of a tradition for me and my small family. ( My sis and her fam and my honey) 🙂 The kite festival brings thousands of people to Zilker Park to let loose and look up at the beautiful skyline. Brightly colored bicycles, bouncing babies, playful doggies and of course the smell of kettle corn are what seem to make the kite festival what is… fun and carefree. It’s a day to let your inner child come out and play. To literally throw caution to the wind as you try to get your kite off the ground, while trying to avoid taking someones eye out. ( it’s all fun and games…)
I love that some days at Zilker park there is not a soul in sight, but at the kite festival you have to watch where you step for fear of walking onto someones picnic or worse, getting clotheslined by a kite string. All- in- all the Kite festival is not to be missed if you love to people watch, soak up the sun or you just want to feel like a kid again. An Austin must if you get the chance!
