I know this is going to be a bit different from what I normally post, but this has been in my head for years and I need to break out of my comfort zone. Babies, and puppies are cute and all, but I want to do a book on tattoos, not actually get a tattoo.
I want to know the real stories of why people decide to have something or someone etched into their skin with a needle for all eternity. I’m absolutely fascinated by it! The reasons behind them are usually really awesome , ( I’ve asked a lot of people).. “In honor of my father” or ” this is my family tree” or ” I lost my buddies in an accident” and sometimes they can be completely lame… “I was bored”, ” I don’t really have a story” , “my friend did it for free”, ” I was drunk”, etc…
(actually I heard they don’t let you get plastered before you get one anymore… bummer).
I’m sure this one didn’t tickle! (Put a bird on it !”) 😉
I don’t have any tattoos, but only because I have never found something that I wanted on my body forrrevvvverrrrr! It must have been when I was about six years old when I asked my Uncle, who was probably in his 60’s at the time , what was on his forearm. There were lots of pretty colors, but I couldn’t quite make out what it was, so I asked him to show me. He rolled up his sleeve and slowly stretched his wrinkled skin back to show me the Virgin of Guadalupe. My eyes must have been bulging out of my head as I watched in horror as the Virgin Marys face was twisted and stretched like silly putty. I’m pretty sure that scarred me for life. Yet, to this day I’m still intrigued every time somebody walks past with glorious colors upon their skin. I want to know where and when and most of all why. Why this flower? or that bird on your shoulder down to your bum.
… or why the cast of GOLDEN GIRLS upon your thighs?? WHY??!!
I understand that it’s an expression of who you are.. or who think you are at that time. I just want to know the story behind the ink. Maybe that could be the title. Hmm, who knows.. maybe I’ll finally get one! 😉
( I wanted to get it because it would have made my nieces laugh!)
