Years ago when I lived in California I was introduced to an amazing product called ARBONNE. If you have never heard of Arbonne before let me tell you a little about this product line that I have been reunited with. First of all its absolutely fabulous, but what really sets Arbonne apart from the rest is that all of their products are made from botanicals. NO animal fat or other frightening products that are not labeled. PURE – SAFE -BENEFICIAL is the Arbonne policy.

What really sold me on these products is that I know exactly what I’m putting on my face and body. Arbonne even has vitamins and protein shakes to help me stay healthy too! I’ve been told the mens line is just as fabulous.

Although I sound like a consultant for Arbonne, I am not. However, my very good friend Karisa Prestera IS an Arbonne consultant. She has reunited me with the facial cleansing line (RE-9) I missed so much when I moved away from California. My face feels fantastic like it did years ago!

She invited me to an ARBONNE Before and After party where I got to see these already beautiful women transform into Goddesses. With some fantastic tips from make-up artist Dea G. Castillo (owner of Doll Face Go Go Salon) these ladies had a pampering good time as we sipped wine and had what girls have best…..FUN!!

I love being the 2nd St District photographer!! I can’t even begin to express how excited I am when I’m walking around 2nd st. So much pride and excitement like I had when I first moved here three years ago! 2nd street has so much going on at any given time I could be there for hours and never catch it all. So I headed downtown with my camera in hand and had a blast just shooting the nightlife that surrounds 2nd st. I started at City Hall and worked my way to see the bats under the Congress Bridge ( didn’t see any that night), but with so many boutiques and restaurants it’s hard to not find something to do or to photograph for that matter.

Yesterday was a bittersweet goodbye to the Austin food carts on South Congress. When I came to Austin three years ago, the food cart business was just about to explode. Having come from another food cart city (PORTLAND, OR) I was so pleased to have another food cart place to chow down on good grub, but now Austin is growing so fast that local gems like this are having to move and find a new home. A new neighborhood to sling their savory dishes. A new corner to share their tasty creations. I headed to SOCO to say goodbye to some of the best lil trailers in town. I hope to see you soon on another street corner.

A “mini” trip for sabrina bean photography

Spontaneous trips out-of-town are the best! Two weeks ago my honey and I went to San Antonio to visit our friends. I’ve only had my new Nikon D5200 for a short time and I have not had a chance to “play” with all the fun features.. until this tip. One feature I love the most is the miniature effect. It makes everything look itty bitty. “Bean” size as I like to call it. Here are a few shots from our adventure to San Antonio in “mini” mode.

If you haven’t been to San Antonio, you need to visit! It is so lovely!

It felt a little like Disneyland to me, especially along the river walk. I kept expecting to see a boat load of people go by singing “yo ho, yo ho a pirates life for me” before plummeting down a twenty-foot drop with smiles on their faces.

The weather was perfect, the company was wonderful and the wafting aroma of jasmine and rosemary was everywhere. It was a short visit, but well worth it! So glad this awesome city is just a 60 minute car ride away!

Hello again my Bean fans! Just wanted to share with you some head shots I took the other day of a few Doulas. Doulas, if you don’t already know are professional birth coaches, to help mom in labor. These days with social media being just about the only way to communicate with the world, it’s important to represent yourself not only in a professional manner, but also one that truly depicts who you are. Having a photographer that understands your needs and captures your personality is so important. I stopped by for a quick 30 minute session while these ladies had a quick break during their training. This session was definitely worth the wait. The weather was against us for a good month. The sun finally decided to come out play. Fun in the backyard with these kids took me back to my childhood. Playing with the water hose and getting muddy were typical days in my childhood . Muddy and drenched = happy child memories. This session was all that and more.

sabrina bean photography glows in the dark at The Electric Run

What an awesome event! A few weeks back I saw a notice on FB about The Electric Run, a 5k where everyone runs in the dark covered in glow sticks and glow paint! I knew this would be such a fun event to cover and to photograph. Austin has some pretty incredible events, but I was so impressed by the turn out! 10,000 plus people showed up to run in the dark! I was also pleased to know that this event would also benefit the Texas Leukemia foundation. Not only was this benefitting a charity, it was surprisingly a very family friendly event.

I may not have been running in the event, but I sure was tired from running around the course chasing runners. This was my first event that I shot in the dark (so-to-speak) and with my subjects moving really fast. Needless to say it was quite the blurry experience. There were areas throughout the course with artistic lighting to keep you visually stimulated in the dark. Upside down umbrellas hanging from the trees, a barn that was lit with black lights, while blasting party music as you ran your glowing behind off. We arrived at the finish line to find a huge party and dance floor filled with glow in the dark participants enjoying the music and laser light show. It was indeed ELECTRIC!

I would like to say thank you to the event coordinators and media staff that were so awesome and friendly and eager to help me get the shot I needed. They even brought over a lift for me so I could get a shot of the glowing crowd from above.

Spring is in the air! The baby birds are chirping outside my window, flowers are blooming and I jut lost my entire iphoto library! AAAHHHHHHH! I know!!!!! After pulling out my hair, crying and fighting the feeling of vomit rising, I’ve decided instead of freaking out that I would try and find the bright side. SO, to “rebuild” my library I am offering a SPRING SALE. All session will be 20% off! This special will run till the end of March 2013.

I’ve been living in Austin, Tx now for almost 3 years now and this is my first time I’m attending any SXSW activities. One of the biggest music festivals in the world! A two week extravaganza of music and media interactions and tons of people watching. People are flying in from all over the country to see these bands perform. It’s a photographer heaven! I attended the free show at Whole Foods on the roof. Yep, on the ROOF! That’s how we roll in Austin! Me and a few of my best girl friends grabbed some bubbles and waited for the party to get started and it was indeed a party!

Seeing all the people having a great time, meeting new people and talking about how Austin ROCKS was just the start to the day! The sun was shining and the music was flowing. It was such an awesome Sunday Funday and it was only the first day of SX! There is so many things happening all over town it’s almost overwhelming! Thousands of bands performing all over Austin, it’s enough to make your head spin! If you can’t make it to Austin for this incredible event I hope that my photos take you there.

I hope you can feel the passion from Honor Society’s drummer Alex. Nothing is more sexy to me than when someone is passionate about what they do- plus a great smile certainly doesn’t hurt. You may know their song “OVER YOU”

I was diggin the sounds from Suite 709, (a local Austin band) when they took the stage. The lead singer Jirod Green was totally given off a Terrance Trent D’arby meets Lenny Kravitz vibe. Quite sexy! Loved their song ” Life Won’t Let You Down.” Been listening to them on Spotify all morning.

To top the afternoon off my good friend, graphic design artist of my BEAN and talented bad ass drummer Rona Rogueheart played with Jordan Bass. There Americana sound was unique and was the perfect way to end my first day of SXSW.

Still stoked that this opportunity has finally come my way! I was excited the minute I woke up that day. I had a session with two adorable boys in the morning and then we headed to the Austin Kite festival and then a quick trip home to gear up for my first AD session with 2nd St District for Austin Monthly magazine. It was a phenomenal day! Busy, but so much fun doing what I love to do! The session went smooth considering I was photographing three children hyped up on cupcakes from Delish bakery. If you have ever had one you would be running around too! These kids were so adorable and giving me the shots I needed left and right. My camera could barely keep up with them. I knew I had the shot 10 minutes into the session, but I kept on shooting cause these kids were to stinkin cute, I couldn’t help myself! An hour passed so fast and the sugar highs came down quick so we called it a day. It felt so amazing to walk away so proud and I knew I had nailed it! (totally tooting my own horn) When you have kids this cute how could you not nail it?! A BIG THANK YOU goes out to the parents and to 2nd St. District for this amazing opportunity!
