sabrina bean photography captures the Labor of Love
To see life being brought into this world is unbelievable! It’s raw, it’s quiet (at times),joyous and mind blowing all at the same time! A scene to incredible to really translate into words, which is why I can only describe what I saw with my camera and thank my lucky stars that I am a birth photographer. To capture the unharnessed power and strength of a woman in labor is life changing. I’ve been very grateful to have now witnessed a water birth at home, a hospital birth and now a birth at a Birthing Center. All very different in their own way, but all leading to the greatest gift that is life. I am also very fortunate to have worked with two awesome mid-wives from Centrevida Birth Center and Doula extraordinaire Gena Kirby of A Hero’s Journey and Mommy Matters Online. Most people have heard of a mid-wife, but what’s a Doula? Think of her as the support of your best friend and your pregnancy coach all wrapped into one.
This is the first time I have had the privilege to work together with my sister as “Doula” and “Photographer”. This was another reason that we moved to Austin, Texas together, so we could combine our passion for the importance of a normal birth. The outcome was an experience that neither of us will ever forget. Our first birth together! 31 hours of labor for mama and baby Nila was born March 2nd at 9:58pm. Mom was a champion the whole way through.I am so fortunate to have been able to take part in her journey into Motherhood, to see her go from 20 weeks pregnant to her holding her baby in arms within seconds of being born. I LOVE WHAT I DO! Congratulations to Mom and Dad, you are both heroes to me.
